Current Release

Release Notes - EPIC System - 3.2.2

May 27, 2026

EPIC 3.0 is a major release update that includes significant user backend changes needed to provide enhanced security, improved performance, and support. Administrators should review the EPIC Interactive Training Module and prepare and train users before rolling out the updates.

When migrating from version 2.5 or lower, notification events must be manually migrated to a contact list and then added to events. If administrators edit events after updating to 2.5 before migrating contacts, event contacts may be lost.

Additions

SAFE Badge Updates:
Enhanced the User Equipment tab to provide greater visibility and management of SAFE Badges

  • Battery levels are now displayed using color indicators for quick recognition
  • Added a column to identify badges not seen for over 24 hours
  • Introduced automated email notifications to Support and Maintenance contacts for inactive badges
    • Added the ability to include or exclude specific badges—or all badges—from these alerts

Integration with SAFE+
Audio Enhancement now integrates with SAFE+, enhancing real-time alerting and communication during critical events. This integration improves situational awareness and enables faster, more coordinated responses across your campus. For more information, please reach out to Audio Enhancement’s Tech Support.

GPS information on Map Setup
We’ve added Latitude and Longitude points that can be placed on the map. This information is available for other third-party integrations.

Updated Assets for EPIC Systems
For new installations of 3.2, we’ve refreshed EPIC system assets to improve clarity, consistency, and accessibility, including new event icons and signage, updated recorded audio with standardized levels, and added Spanish-language versions. This update also incorporates resources from the “I Love U Guys” Foundation and introduces an improved ITC layout with preconfigured buttons for easier setup.

  • For existing installations doing an upgrade to EPIC 3.2, AE has an available library of these new assets. Customers who want these assets can download the library and manually upload the files to your EPIC system. All new EPIC installations will ship with these updated assets pre-installed.

AND Device Font Color Customization:
Added the ability to customize font colors on AND devices. Users can now access Advanced Device Settings to select from a list of color options for:

  • Clock (Hours/Minutes)
  • Seconds
  • AM/PM indicator

HD AND Device Background Images for Events:
Enhanced the HD AND devices to support event-specific background images. Users can now push a selected image to an HD AND device(s) to display during certain events or notifications.

  • To configure, navigate to:
Settings → System Settings → AND Messages
  • When creating or editing an AND message, use the BG Image option to assign a background image.

Text-to-Speech Audio Broadcasts
Added the ability for schools to create dynamic emergency messages that include critical details such as event type, school name, and room name. These messages can be added to an event in the Event Engine to play over campus speakers or sent via a SIP call directly to first responders, improving response speed and situational awareness during emergencies.

User Management Enhancement
Streamlined user administration by combining the Contact List and User List into a single, unified view within the User Management tab. Contacts for alert notifications are now managed directly within this tab, eliminating the need to use the Event Engine separately. Additionally, administrators can create contact-only users and assign them to equipment, improving flexibility, and simplifying user management workflows.

Door Information - a Door Name variable is now available for use for door monitoring alerts, adding helpful information in text or email alerts when a door is propped open.

Fixes

EduCam360B Streaming Delay
Added a 1-second delay when a SAFE alert is triggered to ensure the camera lens is fully open before starting the stream.

Apostrophe Handling

  • Resolved an issue where usernames containing an apostrophe prevented user lists from loading in ring groups.
  • Fixed email address handling so apostrophes are now supported.

ITC2 Lockdown Notifications
Fixed an issue where ITC2 devices were not receiving Lockdown event notifications.

MS-775 Device Support

  • Corrected an issue where the ‘Query All XD’ function excluded MS-775 devices.
  • Restored auto-healing functionality for SIP connections on MS-775 devices (system now retries three times).
  • Fixed the manual reboot support so MS-775 and MS-720 devices can now be rebooted through the Reboot tab.

SAFE Badge Assignment
Fixed an issue where SAFE badges created without an assigned user could not be updated later. Users can now be added to badges after the initial creation.

POE-Clock Configuration
New POE-Clock devices now include the updateURL configuration automatically, eliminating the need to manually push the firmware updates.

LDAP Domain Regex
Upgraded LDAP integration to allow a wider variety of valid formats, improving usability for customers.

SIP Tone Configuration
Fixed an issue where SIP Tone settings reverted from “No Tone” to an audio file, which prevented certain SIP devices from allowing two-way intercom calls. SIP Tone settings now save correctly.

Camera Time Zone Updates
Time zone changes are now properly pushed to camera devices to ensure consistent scheduling and recording accuracy.

Lockdown Map Behavior:
Resolved an issue where, during a Lockdown event, removing the Notification condition prevented the map from switching to the Confirm Check-In view. The map will now correctly display Confirm Check-In even when the Notification condition is removed.

Manually Adding Device Network Settings:
Fixed a problem where network settings were not properly applied when a device was manually added to EPIC. Network configuration details are now correctly carried over during manual device creation.

User Role Management:
Fixed an issue where a user’s role could not be updated after account creation. Roles can now be changed without needing to delete and recreate the user.

Profile Picture Uploads:
Resolved a problem that prevented profile pictures from being added after a new user was created. Image uploads now work as expected.

Lockdown Message Updates:
Fixed an issue where changes to the UI/message action for a Lockdown event were not reflected in the Lobibox message. Updates now apply correctly.

AND Strobe Behavior:
Corrected an issue where AND device strobes would continue indefinitely if enabled without an associated audio file. Strobed alerts now stop as expected.

Major Release

Release Notes - EPIC System - 3.0.0

Apr 02, 2025

EPIC 3.0 is a major release update that includes several significant user backend changes. Administrators should review the EPIC Interactive Training Module and prepare and train users prior to rolling out the updates. Customers should be aware of the updates and test them thoroughly before rolling them out to all sites.

When migrating from a version prior to 2.5, notification events must be manually migrated to a contact list and then added to events. If administrators edit events after updating to 2.5 prior to migrating contacts, event contacts may be lost.

Additions

  • Enhanced Security & Stability
  • Ubuntu 24.04 includes the latest security patches, improved system hardening, and extended support, ensuring a more secure and stable environment for our services.
  • Improved Performance & Efficiency
  • With optimized resource management, updated kernel improvements, and better support for modern hardware, you’ll experience faster, more efficient operations.
  • Long-Term Support (LTS) for Future Reliability
  • Ubuntu 24.04 is a Long-Term Support release, meaning it will receive critical updates and security patches for years to come, ensuring continuous service without disruptions.

  • The initial release of Audio Enhancement PLUS K12
    • This allows EPIC Systems to connect for the 3.0 migration
    • Supports Over The Air updates for EPIC Systems on 3.0+
    • Supports district user management for Clear Connect so admins can provide access to teachers using AE CLEAR connect
  • If an MS device loses the SIP registration, EPIC will re-push the SIP settings to attempt to establish the connection.
  • Added new signage options for the InfoView displays.
Fixes

Within the Event Engine, if an Event is saved and the EPIC System has a connected CZA device, the Event Actions will be duplicated. This has been fixed to ensure that Event Actions are not duplicated upon Saving.

In some cases, the LEDs wouldn’t reset after a SAFE alert because no camera was assigned to the room. This issue has been resolved to ensure the LEDs properly reset after both paired and non-paired SAFE alerts.

During a Non-Paired SAFE Alert, the third-party camera icon could not be selected on the Home screen map due to the circles covering it. This has been corrected to ensure all icons can be clicked during the Non-Paired alert.

In some cases, the audio would become out of sync between MS devices. Improvements were made to This has been fixed to ensure audio plays as close to in sync as possible.

It was found that devices would not save in the Change Notification event action. This has been corrected so that no matter when new devices are added, they will be saved in the Change Notification event.

When updating devices through the Bulk Configuration tab, it would reset all volumes to the default settings. The volume settings have been removed so that when bulk changes are pushed, any volume settings made prior will not be affected.

Fixes

The CZA-1300 devices wouldn't properly remove device driver objects, causing the device status to flicker between yellow and green. This issue has been resolved, so the drivers are now properly removed and display the correct status.

When connecting an ITC to a CZA-1300 device, certain layouts wouldn't appear during triggered events. This has been fixed to ensure the layouts appear correctly during events.

In ViewPath, the Live button would not work on Chromium browsers. This has been fixed to work properly on those browsers

We found that in some instances, the camera streams would not load for teachers. This has been resolved, the streams will work correctly now.

We found that user-uploaded ITC images were not included in the EPIC backup file, and upon upgrading to EPIC 3.0.0, those images would be lost. We made a change to ensure these images are saved in the backup and will display properly in EPIC 3.0.0.

Fixes
  • SIP Audio Quality:
Resolved the “screeching” issue in SIP audio streams without introducing additional background noise, resulting in clearer and more stable audio performance.

  • Line-In Audio Handling:
Fixed an issue (also present in v2.0.0) where line-in audio was improperly mixed with SIP calls and RTP streams. Line-in audio is now correctly muted when an incoming HPN or SIP stream is active.

  • Audio Delay:
Addressed a problem introduced in v2.1.1 that caused audio delays of up to 4 seconds. Audio playback and communication timing are now restored to expected performance levels.

Here is a table of all MS-700 Firmware updates. The firmware is available as an upgrade package that can be loaded onto the EPIC System.

These devices upgrade their firmware by checking the EPIC System periodically for an update. This will happen automatically every day, but users can force it to check immediately by rebooting the device, as it will search for the FW file during boot.
